About

Michael H ReedI was born in Zimbabwe  in ’76 and moved to South Africa at an early age. I was fortunate enough to see the huge changes that were made in the country during the 90′s before work called and I moved to the UK.

In early 2005 I was adamant there was no way I was going to work in the city. As with so many things in life not everything is in our control and I ended up working in Westminster. 5 years on and the only way I’m leaving is in a box or being dragged kicking and screaming with my nails scrapping the tar as I am forcibly removed.

As someone who can happily spend hours sitting observing people, their movements and social habits I find London absolutely fascinating. Now every morning I get to walk out of London Waterloo up to the London Eye, get on my bike (another favorite of mine) and ride over Westminster Brige on my way to work.

So whats so special about that? In the space of 10 minutes every morning I get to take in -

  • The London Eye
  • The Thames
  • Houses Of Parliament
  • Big Ben
  • Westminster Abbey

I do however miss the “Normality” or natural “Rawness” of Africa. Theres something about that continent that infects you with a closeness to mother nature. If I was being dragged out of London I would probably want to go back there to start a farm or something on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.By day I deal with issues…I am an IT Manager, when I’m not being a diplomatic solution providing multitasking defender of bad bits and bytes,  I change into my alter ego “Mellow Mike” an average bloke who has a passion for photography. I try to capture moments not just a second and prefer candid shots of life as it is happening because a scene always looks better if natural and not faked. I would rather capture the emotion of an unhappy person than ask them to smile.
